Why have a website, you might ask?
Here are a few reasons why:
The true nature of consumer behavior is in a constant state of change over time, to adapt to modern technology, and consumer behavior has most definitely changed to adapt to the digital age. I like to use the Yellow Pages as an example. The invention of the telephone was an amazing technological achievement in the late 1800’s and changed the way both businesses and consumers did business. As more and more households began to use telephone directories to find local products and services, business owners realized advertising in them would be extremely lucrative. Advertising in the Yellow Pages became a standard operating procedure for businesses by the mid 1930’s. This made perfect sense, considering the majority of households in the United States used the directory on a daily basis.
Then came the internet and not far after, the World Wide Web. Consumers soon realized they could find what they were looking for online, faster and more effectively than a phone directory. Their behavior began to shift away from using the printed directory. By the year 2011, 70% of the American population rarely or never used printed telephone directories. Furthermore, greater than 59% of consumers were already browsing the web to find local business and services.
Since the beginning of 2019, 97% of consumers go online to find a local business. If you want them to choose your company, you most certainly need to be found online with your own personalized website. Perhaps you already have a website that needs a more refined, polished, modern look? Or perhaps you haven’t established a website for your company, yet—better late than never!
